Iceland Paragliding – Tandem Flight from Vik

What is the best way to discover Iceland? From above of course! On this tandem paragliding flight starting from Vík, you will witness the stunning view of the most popular region of Iceland from above in the open air. It is definitely an adventure of a lifetime to see the impressive Reynisfjara black sand beach and the Reynisdrangar basalt rock stacks from the air.

Do you want to see Vík, Reynisfjara, and Reynisdrangar? Why not do it in a safe and incredible way? Paragliding is one of the calmest and safest free-flying forms. On this tandem flight, you will have an experienced instructor pilot with you at all times. When your guide has gone through all safety assessments and the wing is inflated, you will take a few steps down a slope and then you will be in the open air. The area around Vík is for sure one of the most breathtaking places on Earth for paragliding and the view and scenery will be fantastic.

Iceland Paragliding – An Experience of a Lifetime

A tandem flight is an introductory paragliding flight and you need no prior knowledge. The flight time depends a lot on the weather conditions and the wind. Therefore the flight can be anything from 5 to 25 minutes. The aim to fly is 10 to 15 minutes but in case the weather conditions are not ideal and the tour operator thinks the flight might be short they will definitely inform you in advance. Your pilot will take photos during the flight which will be a great souvenir of this extraordinary adventure. Please select for that “in-flight HD videos and photos…” in the booking form.

Please have in mind that the times are given for morning, afternoon or evening take-offs are only an indication. You should allow +/- 2 hours in your itinerary and call the tour operator one day before to discuss all details. Safety goes first and you will only fly when conditions are safe. You will receive a full refund for any flight cancellations due to weather or safety considerations.

Add some Extra Adventure to your Paragliding Tour in Iceland

If you want to make more of your day in the South you can add some optional extras that will ensure that you have a blast. For a longer flying experience, you can also book a double flight (please select “make your flight a double” in the booking form). If conditions allow, your second flight will be straight after the first one. With that, you can double your fun and see a lot more of the area around Vík.

You can also add a 45 minutes super jeep tour to your Iceland paragliding flight. An experienced driver-guide will show you Reynisfjall, Dyrhólaey, the town of Vík and Mýrdalsjökull glacier on a fun super jeep tour. All you need to do is select “Vík mountain views jeep tour” when booking your paragliding tour on this page.

Requirements:

There are hardly any age limits if you fit within the weight requirements and are in good shape. The oldest passenger we’ve had so far was nearly 90 years old! Kids as young as 5 can fly too, as long as it is clear that they want to.  A parent or a guardian must be present to look after them, participate in the briefing and be satisfied that we are taking all necessary measures to ensure the child’s safety. Any young people under the age of 18 need written parental consent to fly with us.

The safe minimum weight is 15 kg and the maximum limit is 135 kg. This is determined by the certified weight ranges of the paragliding equipment we use. In terms of height, there are no official restrictions, you just need to be able to comfortably fit in the harness. We’ve never had a case in which a person who is within the safe weight limit hasn’t been comfortable with the harness.
