Embark on the ultimate arctic adventure and experience an ancient and thrilling mode of traveling. This tour is perfect for those who love animals, adventure, and spectacular scenery.
The tour operator is running the tour in different locations depending on where the best conditions for the dogs are. The travel time from Reykjavík will vary from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Therefore, it is a good idea to book your accommodation in Reykjavík the night before your tour. Approximately one week before departure, you will receive more detailed directions to the location of your husky sledding tour.
Once you reach the base camp, your dog sledding adventure starts with meeting the dogs and saying hello to a bunch of friendly huskies. The majority of the pack are Greenland dogs, but you will also be able to give a scratch to a few Siberian and Alaskan huskies.
Tours are available all year. Dependent on the season and the weather conditions, the tour takes either place on snow or dry land.
Husky Sledding Iceland – This tour will operate with a sled on snow or with a kart on DRY- LAND depending on the conditions
Between December and the beginning of April, chances are good for having enough snow in the area although even in the winter, sledding on snow is not guaranteed. Once you and the dogs are ready, the real adventure will start. After mounting the sled, you will slide for approximately 45 minutes through the snowy landscape of South Iceland. Halfway through your journey you will make a short stop so that you can enjoy nature, take some great photos and give the dogs a good belly rub.
If you embark on this adventure in summer or if there is no snow during the winter, that will be no hindrance. The dogs enjoy a good run all year, and your musher will attach tires to the sled. There will be opportunities to take pictures on the tour of the magnificent landscape and of course the dogs!
